Some of you local Chicagoans probably wish you had picked up some new tunes before getting stuck in the public transit armageddon yesterday. Just in case the CTA breaks down again, Superfangs is here to deliver tracks for your extended commute…

MP3: Langhorne Slim- Rebel Side of Heaven from Langhorne Slim (April 29th, Kemado Records)
Hailing originally from outside of Philadelphia, Langhorne Slim came into his own amongst open mics and bar rooms in New York city. His folk, blues inspired tunes mix in guitar, organs and horns with unique results. We’re especially fond of the tuba.

MP3: Bobby & Blumm- In Future Present from Everybody Loves (April 29th, Morr Music)
This sparse, intimate arrangement brought to mind a recent track we posted from Hello, Blue Roses. Swedish singer Ellinor Blixt’s rich, emotional voice outshines the instrumentation.

MP3: Eerie- Daybreakers from Eerie EP (Out now, Komakino)
This week’s zone out track. It’s like Elliott Smith kinda got some Codeine slowcore mashed up with his singer songwriter tendencies.

MP3: AA Bondy- There’s A Reason from American Hearts (Reissue out now, Fat Possum)
Fat Possum just re-released one of last year’s most solid singer songwriter albums by AA Bondy. Religious imagery abounds on the straightforward folk debut; though on this track the former Verbena frontman likens the swagger of Ryan Adams.

MP3: Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson- Buriedfed from Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson (July 1st, Say Hey)
The blogosphere is abuzz with Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson’s debut. Recorded by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear, the album features the musical talents of the Bear and a contribution from TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone. Robinson’s dark lyrical content contrasts well with simple strumming and drum beats. His occasional yelps remind me a bit of early Modest Mouse.

And now for this week¹s Smorgasbord Sundae Wafer…

Stream: Roommate- Way Out from We Were Enchanted (Out now, Plug Research)
We tried our best to find a kosher MP3 for your enjoyment, but unfortunately this local electro pop outfit doesn’t seem to offer any. Hello, MySpace! Fans of Stephin Merritt will find something to enjoy, but it should be noted that the fidelity is of a higher level. Catch them Saturday at Empty Bottle. We hear keytars may be involved. For real.
