Boutique Canadian indie MapleMusic has scored the coup of the young century in securing the rights to distribute the physical CD version of Radiohead’s In Rainbows within Canada. The world’s biggest band came calling via Maple’s cooperative relationship with American indie ATO Records, and the hop-to attention the Toronto label has delivered to Canadian stars Tegan & Sara and the Dears won over Thom Yorke & co.
As Maple GM Kim Cooke told Toronto’s Star, everyone in the company “thought we were on drugs” when they got the call. Um, yeah, I guess so. The full story, obligatory hockey analogy included, is available on the Star’s website (via The Daily Swarm).
