Here we go again, folks…
Golden Animals caught my ear on a recent WOXY broadcast with their sunny, psuedo-psychedelic pop offset by swaggering rock grit. Think the Mamas & the Papas meets the JSBX.
Miracle Fortress has the expansive, world-shuddering power to get into your core like the Arcade Fire, but there’s no woe-is-me bitterness in the gorgeous harmonies, angelic vocals, and Pet Sounds-like melodies. This is an instant high-rotation album if you let it be.

Jagjaguwar has the pleasure of releasing For Emma, Forever Ago from Bon Iver. This guy is a part of the reason I say I’m a fan of singer-songwriters - it’s genuine, it’s gritty, and it has soul beyond the words and guitar strums. Douchebaggery runs rampant in this genre, but young guys like Bon Iver, Joe Pug, and Phosphorescent have resurrected the aesthetic of the true troubadour.
