Expect some serious hype for the CMJ parties I’m hoping to get to next week here on NDFY over the next several days. I’ll preview the bands that looks exciting, post mp3’s where I can, and of course hope that everyone will come out, meet up, and shake it with me in New York.

First up, some great stuff from one of my favoritle labels, Merge:

Imperial Teen really surprised me with The Hair the TV the Baby & the Band - it’s a crunchy bit of power pop and a great statement of relevance from these early purveyors of upbeat rock. “Shim Sham” is an instantly catchy example.

The Rosebuds are a dance rock band, but there’s some darkness in their toe-tapping melodies. “Get Up Get Out” is an invitation to the dance floor, but there’s a seductiveness that fleshed out the otherwise memorable beats.
