Jeff Tweedy is nothing short of remarkable, people, and he’s fortunate to have some not-so-shabby dudes behind him, too. Last night’s Wilco extravaganza at the GORGEOUS Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago’s Millennium Park was probably the best of their shows I’ve seen, and I have to be up around 20 by now. The weather was glorious - about 69 and clear as a bell - and the band played for nearly 2.5 hours. All songs made the setlist because they were voted in on the band’s website, so it was a singalong lovefest from the front of the stage to the back of the lawn seats. Highlights for me were “Casino Queen,” a song I’ve never seen live, “Red Eyed and Blue,” “Outta Mind, Outta Site,” and “Hummingbird,” during which Jeff expanded his usual running man dance to include a couple of laps around the rest of the band.
Seriously, y’all, get your tickets for the rest of this tour. The band is healthy, happy, and incredibly tight. I’ll post last night’s setlist in a hot minute.
